Docs In Progress is a nonprofit arts organization based in downtown Silver Spring. We are located in a red brick house only three blocks from the Silver Spring Metro and across the street from a county parking garage.
If you are a filmmaker looking for space in the evening to hold a small screening or focus group (maximum 20 guests), our "living room" with a large screen monitor and an adjacent room and kitchen for refreshments may be right for you.
If you are looking for meeting space day or night, we also have a conference room which can accommodate up to 10.
The Documentary House is ideal if you are looking for a charming, homey space. It does have stairs to the front entrance and to the upstairs restroom so keep that in mind in terms of accessibility.
Space is used by our organization as well, so is subject to availability of both space and staff.
|How To Book||
|Hours Of Operation||Meeting space is generally available between 9-5. Screening space is available evenings and weekends if space is not booked for other uses and staff is available.|
|Rental Policy||Docs In Progress staff is required to be onsite for all rental events. For the living room screening or reading space, we highly recommend making bookings at least one month in advance to ensure we have availability. To calculate number of hours needed, we include the hours of your event plus one hour for set up and one hour for clean up. For the conference room meeting space, we recommend making bookings at least one week in advance to ensure we have availability. To calculate number of hours needed, we include the hours of your event plus 1 hour combined for set up and clean up. All renters who wish to provide refreshments must provide your own plates, cups, napkins, and utensils, and are responsible for all clean-up including removing trash and recycled materials. No alcoholic beverages or smoking is permitted. No parking is provided for weekday events. For evening events, parking in our lot is free and on a first come, first served basis (approximately 10 spots) and the garage across the street is free after 7 pm.|
|Cancellation Policy||For screening space: full payment must be received at least one month in advance. If event is canceled 10 or more days before it is scheduled, you will receive a 50% refund. If the event is canceled less than 10 days before it is scheduled, there is no refund. For daytime meeting space, full payment must be received at one week in advance of the event. If event is canceled more than 48 hours before it is scheduled, you will receive a 50% refund. If the event is canceled less than 48 hours before it is scheduled, there is no refund.|
