Foundry’s new gallery space is in the Atlantic Plumbing Building at 2118-8th Street, NW, between U and V Streets, NW, in Washington, DC. The gallery is situated on the street level of a new building designed by noted architect Morris Adjmi. The location is three from the U Street Metro Station on the Green and Yellow lines. On-street parking is available in front of the building and on nearby streets, and a parking lot ($8/day) is at the corner of 8th Street and Barry Place.

The space is made up of two galleries, each about 350 square feet, connecting through a large archway. The floors are polished concrete and exposed pipes and ducts adorn the ceiling. The space also includes a food prep area, restroom and coat closet. There is a garage door in each gallery that can be opened in warm weather to allow guests to enjoy the outdoors.

The gallery space can accommodate about 70 people standing, or 50 people seated at banquet tables, or 60 people both seated and standing.

Restrictions On Use Artwork is not allowed to be displayed or sold in the gallery other than the artwork exhibited by Foundry Gallery artists or their guests. The promotion or sale of products or merchandise may not be the primary purpose of the event. Sales of merchandise are allowed only when incidental to the primary purpose of the event. For example, sale of T-shirts commemorating the event or sale of CDs by the entertainer are permitted.

How To Book

Please send an email to stating date requested, start and end times, description of proposed activity, e.g., poetry reading, luncheon meeting, and number of people expected.

Hours Of Operation Open to the public Wednesday – Sunday 1 – 7pm Rentals are preferred during the hours that the gallery is NOT open to the public. However, accommodations will be made to close the gallery early or close entirely in order to host a private event.
Rental Policy Rental fees are determined based on a minimum of four hours, including time for set-up and clean-up. Rental Rates: Monday - Thursday and Sunday -- $150/hour ($600 minimum) Fridays and Saturdays -- $200/hour ($800 minimum) Security deposit of $250 against damages. Refunded in full if space is left in the same condition as it was at start of event.
Cancellation Policy One half of all fees if cancelled within 2 weeks of the event.
Open to last minute space requests. -
